To our winter home!

After a quick stop in Biarritz it was on into Spain.  The shorts T shirts and sandals were out were as temp hit mid to high 20’s. Whilst summer is beautiful in Scotland its only the rare days that you get temps in the Mid 20’s which we just find perfect.

We were going to stop in the food capital of Europe San Sebastian which has more michelin starred restaurants than most.  There are more three star Michelins here that any other city in the world and the food standards of so many are very high.  Our plans were thwarted. The allocated parking place for motorhomes is at the football stadium and there was a game on later that day so we could not stay.  The town itself is full of very tight streets and not motorhome friendly so after faffing around for a short while we decided that it was time to get where we are going..

We headed to Pamplona where we have stayed before just for the night, took the dugs for a walk along the river had dinner and planned the trip south to Moraira 800ks away via a very scenic drive through the Rioja region stopping for lunch at El Rasillo de Cameros.  A small reservoir in the Rioja. Thought we might get a swim but drought has meant water levels this year a perilously low, 5% capacity in some areas so no go swimming.IMG_1920.

After a nice lunch we headed south via some remarkable county, the highlight of which was the Monasterio Di Piedra, a 12 century monastery surrrounded by lush gardens, lakes and beautiful waterfalls.

They were not dog friendly at the park and it was way too hot 35 to leave Milo and Ginny in the motorhome so after a quick look around we decided to knock off some more k’s so we would and easy drive to Moraira the next morn and our new villa.
