The end or an era..well not quite!!!

When we first came to Scotland 14 years ago I told Janice I wanted a motorhome to see this part of the world slowly. We have been lucky to travel a lot but much of mine was business and you never really see much. Traveling in a motorhome without a serious timetable gives you so…

Heading South..Allez!

Its great to be back in France.  Things immediately stand out…they make the best bread in the world, they know how to drive properly and make great roads. The noise coefficient drops by about 40% and it makes driving so much nicer.  brits have no idea how to build great roads! After the Eurotunnel train…

To our winter home!

After a quick stop in Biarritz it was on into Spain.  The shorts T shirts and sandals were out were as temp hit mid to high 20’s. Whilst summer is beautiful in Scotland its only the rare days that you get temps in the Mid 20’s which we just find perfect. We were going to…

Here comes the sun!

After driving in mist and drizzle for two days just as we entered the Cognac region the sun got his hat on! Sunnies oot!  We decided to head all the way to Biarritz just 50ks from the Spanish border about 350ks in all. The obligatory stop  along the way to let the dugs out so…

Vamos! Lets go!

Its that time again…time to go south and follow the sun. As the nights draw in and the temperatures start to drop the warm water and climate beckon. After 14 years on the road this year we are doing something different- we have bought a small villa in Moraira which is about halfway between Valencia…

A quick schlep to Vilanova

In the weeks before we left there was a horrendous storm. High winds pissing rain, the surf at our front gate. I woke on the morning after to find trees leaves and carnage everywhere. I went outside the bungalow to check the motorhome and found this!! Fortunately no damage!! but a bit scary at first…

Adios Moraira, Volveremos!! we will be back!!

Its been a fantastic stay in our little bungalow by the beach. Moraira is a welcoming town and we have met so many friendly people. There are many highlights,  first a visit by Bernice and her twin Belinda ( two of Janices long time friends) Bernice was Milo’s mum previously so he was over the…

Irony!!

After three months of a painful back injury, more stretching exercise than I have ever done in my life I did what I should have done in the first place – find a good chiropractor.  My instincts told me this but they were not followed.  The doc and others said physio is the way to…

Moraira ..On the beach!!

This year we decided to rent  a property for a few months  like last year and spilt our time away between being on the road and stationary..well almost. We discovered this fabulous bungalow where you step out onto the beach  from the patio when we stayed here with friends Alan and Lesley Ross in March…

Ole!Ole!

And so begins another winter in the Spanish sunshine.  First stop – one month at Vilanova Park. It is always great. We have made so many friends hhere over the past 4 years.  As campsites go this is often regarded as the best in all of Europe. Great staff, tremendous facilities, heated pool Gym Sauna…

A coastline to love

First stop, Genova just for an overnight- we found a camperstop set in the hills of Pegli just outside Genova. An incredibly tight drive around lots of winding roads with hardly any room for passing traffic. Doesn’t stop the pazzo bastardi from driving like nutters!! Next morning it was off to Ventimiglia for lunch by…

We are here! well almost!

After yet another straight forward crossing via Eurotunnel its Bon jour mes amis! Its a brief stop at our usual stop in Calais down by the beach, a walk o the beach with the dugs dinner a good sleep.  The channel ferries close by leave it seems every 30 mins but did not hear a…
